If that was the intended overall message I suppose the book succeeded, but I can't help but think it was just happenstance. I mean, having our "hero" lawyer Mick, his troubled brother Tommy, the prosecuting attorney, Mick's wife, the defendant David Hanson, and David's wife Marcie all cheating and being cheated on and involved in the murder of reporter Jennifer Yamura in different ways was jI enjoyed the writing itself but took off 3 points for the plot, storyline, and the way it ended.
